Tonkon Torp’s Second Website Law Program Helps Entrepreneurs Address Day-to-Day Operations

On October 14, Tonkon Torp’s Intellectual Property practice group held the second of three programs offered to start-up companies who are developing websites for their organizations.

Program hosts Steve Wilker, Eric Beach, and Vicki Ballou spoke about the important and practical legal considerations of day-to-day operations of a business website, including selling goods via e-commerce and related payment processing/security issues; collecting information from website users; consequences of a data breach; and search engine optimization (SEO) strategies and pitfalls.

Tonkon Torp’s Intellectual Property attorneys help clients develop, protect and strategically deploy assets such as trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and patents. The intellectual property practice encompasses the full range of counseling and compliance services, as well as litigation expertise.

The first program, held September 16, covered planning and development issues from a legal perspective. The third program, slated for November 5, dives into buying or selling a website.
