Brian Booth Writers’ Fund Officially Launched

Portland’s Literary Arts organization has publicly announced establishment of the Brian Booth Writers’ Fund, created in honor of the Tonkon Torp founding partner who was instrumental in creating the Oregon Book Awards and Fellowships.

The fund creates a permanent endowment that will support the creation of new literary work in Oregon. On October 16, 2014, Literary Arts announced (see below for PDF of news release) that it had secured $1.2 million of its $2 million goal for the fund, and invited the public to participate in reaching the goal. Tonkon Torp, an early contributor, has pledged a significant gift in Brian’s name.

“A fourth generation Oregonian, Brian was tireless in his determination to preserve and celebrate our state’s landscape and cultural heritage. Naming the Writers’ Fund after Brian is a natural for one of Oregon’s most committed literary boosters,” says Tonkon Torp partner Tom Palmer.
