Biography:
Jeff represents local, regional and national property owners and developers in a wide range of transactional matters, including acquisitions, sales and project development. Jeff is the Chair of the Firm's Real Estate and Land Use Practice Group and a member of the Sustainability Practice Group.

Jeff also has significant experience representing alternative energy clients, including ethanol producers and wind project developers.

Jeff is the author of the Oregon State Bar's Model Earnest Money Agreement form, “Documentation of Real Estate Transactions.” He is also included as a leading real estate lawyer in The Best Lawyers in America® and the Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business directory.

Some of Jeff's representative matters include:

  • Costco Wholesale Corporation
    Jeff represents Costco on all of its Oregon real estate matters. Recently, Jeff counseled Costco on the acquisition and development of its Wilsonville warehouse.

  • United States Bakery/Springfield Facility
    Jeff represented United States Bakery in its acquisition of approximately 20 acres of real property in Springfield, Oregon and construction of a 160,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility. The complex tax-deferred transaction involved an IRS Section 1033 exchange and negotiation of numerous rail-access agreements.

  • PPM Energy, Inc.
    Jeff counseled PPM Energy in all aspects of the acquisition and development of a 360-acre wind energy project in Riverside County, California.

  • Pacific Ethanol, Inc./Port of Morrow
    Jeff represented Pacific Ethanol in its negotiation of a long-term ground lease with the Port of Morrow and the construction of an ethanol facility on the site.

  • Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. / Marengo Wind Project
    Jeff advised Blue Sky Wind, LLC, an affiliate of Renewable Energy, in its sale of the 140 megawatt Marengo Wind Project in Dayton, Washington.

  • Westgate Shopping Center LLC / Salem Center
    Jeff guided Westgate in all aspects of the Salem shopping center's redevelopment. Counsel included negotiation of major tenant leases with Walgreen's and Panda Express and obtaining a $6 million construction loan from JP Morgan Chase Bank.
