Biography:
A founding partner, Brian's practice emphasizes corporate and business matters for private and public companies, individuals and nonprofit corporations, including foundations and universities. His areas of concentration include corporate governance, representation of special committees of board of directors, mergers and acquisitions, private and public financings, and investment transactions.
Clients include NIKE, Inc., which he has represented for over 20 years, other public companies, and investors. In addition to business and nonprofit clients, Brian represents prominent members of Oregon's creative community.
Brian is recognized as one of Oregon's leading lawyers in corporate law and has been included in The Best Lawyers of America® for the last ten consecutive years. He is also listed as a leader in corporate and M&A in the Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business directory.
Brian is a native of Roseburg, Oregon. Brian and his wife, Gwyneth, were the recipients of the 1997 Tom McCall Leadership Award presented by Bank of America for contributions to Oregon's quality of life, and were named First Citizens of Portland for 1998. In 2002 he received the Aubrey R. Watzek Award from Lewis & Clark College; and in 2007 he was the first recipient of Arlington Club's C.E.S. Wood Award.
He is a frequent speaker on corporate and other topics, and is the editor of Wildmen, Wobblies & Whistlepunks: Stewart Holbrook's Lowbrow Northwest (OSU Press 1992).
