Business Lawyer Powell Joins Tonkon Torp

Gregory L. Powell has joined Tonkon Torp, LLP as a partner in the Business Department. Powell counsels businesses of all sizes on matters related to securities and corporate finance, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions. He also represents capital markets professionals in proceedings and disputes.

Over the course of nearly 20 years of practicing law, Powell has handled business transactions and litigation and has served as General Counsel for both closely held and large companies. He most recently was a partner in the Portland firm of Roberts Kaplan, LLP, formerly Foster Pepper, LLP, where he was managing partner from 2002 to 2007.

A graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School, Powell earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon. He began his professional career with Ernst & Young and then served as tax counsel to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee in Washington, D.C. for three years. Powell returned to Portland and private practice in 1994. He was named to the Oregon Super Lawyers list, a peer review recognition program, for the past three years.
