Marketing & CLE Assistant

Tonkon Torp LLP, an 84 attorney, downtown Portland business law firm, has an opening for a Marketing & CLE Assistant. This position requires a strong work ethic; a can-do attitude; flexibility; excellent professional writing and verbal communication skills; extraordinary attention to detail; ability to multi-task; an aptitude for keeping tasks, files and materials organized; and the ability to work under pressure with a cheerful disposition. 

Under the guidance of the Marketing Director and the Marketing & CLE Coordinator, the Marketing & CLE Assistant will:

  • Assist in planning and conducting receptions, seminars and other client events on and off site.
  • Coordinate sponsorships, table purchases, and charitable contributions.
  • Update print and web attorney biographies and website materials.
  • Manage and update client contact and event databases.
  • Update and manage print materials, such as brochures, handouts, summaries, and other publications.
  • Design simple ads; work with graphic designer on ad and program designs.
  • Coordinate internal data to respond to surveys.
  • Assist with preparation of responses to RFPs and other proposal materials.
  • Update external firm website and social media sites, including posting press releases, photos and other information.
  • Update and manage information on internal firm website.
  • Update and track CLE accreditation for internal programs, and interface with the OSB regarding pending credits and programs.
  • Update and track CLE credits for all firm attorneys.
  • Assist in managing and updating the various firm and department calendars.


The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business, Marketing, English or Journalism, be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including PowerPoint), have exposure to or experience in InDesign and/or Photoshop, have strong computer and technical skills, and be an enthusiastic self-starter who can work independently. At least two years of professional experience is desirable.
